Atlantic Canada’s largest human resources consulting firm is launching a new contingency recruiting firm.

Knightsbridge Robertson Surrette has formed a new company, Meridia Contingency Recruitment, where the client only pays when the hire is made, Knightsbridge spokesman Ian Sullivan said Tuesday.

"It’s hard to find good people and our clients keep turning to us for a cost-effective model that works for them," said Sullivan. "They don’t pay until we succeed and find the right people."

Contingency recruitment is fast, regionally oriented and targeted with a guarantee of a 30-day turnaround process from start to shortlist for mid-level, professional and technical jobs, he said.

Sullivan said there will be eight people running the new company and they will be looking to expand throughout Atlantic Canada; the parent company already has offices in Halifax, Saint John and Moncton.

He said companies are having difficulty finding mid-level professionals in a timely manner to drive their organizations.

"A lot of times I hear from my clients (that) they ran an advertisement, poked around and they’re not finding the right people.

"I want to look at social media networks that can help us attract and find the best candidates so we can be in the networking better," he said.

The current economic climate is indicating companies have weathered the recession and are looking to hire again. Last month the Canadian economy added 25,000 jobs, according to Statistics Canada.

"There’s a reason people are looking to hire; either they are going through growth or change in their organization and they want to move fast, and speed is going to be something we are going to focus on," he said.

Knightsbridge Robertson Surrette has focused primarily on executive recruitment, which is a rigorous process of recruiting and time-consuming, he said.

"Our team’s ability to respond adeptly to client needs, coupled with our network that is second to none in Atlantic Canada, puts Meridia in the optimal position to work with organizations on contingency placements," said Sullivan.
