With 70 employees in seven locations from Hantsport through Bridgetown in the Annapolis Valley, Valley Credit Union is a full service financial institution with over $180M in assets. The business operates under a centralized model with Back Office Services, Accounting, IT, Marketing, HR, Credit Risk, and Commercial Banking being located in Waterville. The organization also owns a full service Wealth and Insurance office.

As the Human Resources Manager you will be an integral part of the organization as they continue to transform their approach to people management, accountability, succession planning and new service offerings. You are forward-looking, interested in the broader business and are excited by the opportunity for long-term career progression within a nimble organization. You are a skilled human resource professional with strong business acumen and an interest in developing broader operational management skills.

Reporting to the President and CEO and sitting in the head office in Waterville, NS, you are responsible for the full spectrum of HR activities including workforce and succession planning, recruitment and retention, training and development, compensation and benefits, policy administration, performance management and employee relations. As a member of the senior leadership team, you will play a key role in the strategic planning and direction of the business and will ensure that people-related programs are effectively implemented and aligned with the overall business plan. Working collaboratively with teams across all branches and offices, you will demonstrate the ability to establish credibility and trust while building strong working relationships at all levels of the business. You will play a key role in enhancing a culture of trust, accountability and employee engagement while building a culture that promotes the goals of the business

Qualifications:

Minimum of seven years related experience
Post-secondary education in business and/or human resources administration, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
Strong business acumen and results orientation
Well-developed managerial coaching skills and the ability to influence
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to effectively lead people through change
