Aethera is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineering Technologist to join our growing team. Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, the successful candidate will assist with the design, construction and test of our products to meet customer, reliability, regulatory and performance requirements within budgeted cost and schedule.

As a Mechanical Engineering Technologist at Aethera, you will undertake a broad range of hands on and technical activities including:

  • Mechanical Design of power electronics, cooling systems and industrial radio frequency products using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD
  • Using your knowledge of materials, machining and tolerancing to assist third party suppliers to provide high quality fabricated parts while managing costs
  • Hands on fabrication using our in-house machine shop while assisting with the improvement of our in-house fabrication capabilities
  • Construction of prototypes, proof-of-concepts and low volume manufacturing
  • Communicating directly with and supporting customers with all aspects of product lifecycle including requirements, installation and service.

As an ideal candidate you graduated from a Mechanical Engineering Technology or Machinist program or have equivalent knowledge, training and experience including a strong aptitude in mechanical theory, machining, inspection, electro/mechanical assembly and excellent Math skills. A strong understanding of thermodynamics and heating/cooling systems design would be considered an asset. You have previous job or hobby experience in machine design and/or machining and fabrication. You are familiar with relevant software tools including Microsoft office suite, experience working with 3D CAD tools are necessary. You have excellent written and verbal English communication skills, are comfortable to work as part of a team or with minimal supervision and are a multi-tasker and remain calm under pressure. You are able to travel within North America and abroad, if necessary. The ideal candidate must also be able to meet the requirements needed for Controlled Goods registration, Industrial Security and other security requirements needed for the company business operations.
