Reporting directly to the principals, the position is accountable for the financial operations of the organization, including the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk, enhance the company’s reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principals.

Responsibilities include:

  • Create and maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
  • Lead, manage and mentor members of the accounting department
  • Collaborate with senior management to provide financial information for decision making
  • Prepare and review timely and accurate quarterly financial statements
  • Prepare cash flow and cash management reports including risk management
  • Implement KPI reporting benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations
  • Provide financial analysis as needed for capital investments, debt refinancing, pricing decisions and contract negotiations
  • Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors and annual audit
  • Comply with provincial and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings


  • 8-10 years of experience in mid-senior level leadership role ideally with both external and internal audit
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting and cost control principals
  • Ability to analyze financial data and proper financial reports, statements and projections
  • Entrepreneurial team player who can multi task
  • Excellent judgement and creative problem-solving skills including negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Energetic, flexible, collaborative and proactive; a team leader who can positively and productively impact both strategic and tactical finance and administration initiatives
