Marine Atlantic’s mission is to provide a safe, environmentally responsible, and quality ferry service between the Island of Newfoundland and the Province of Nova Scotia in a reliable, courteous and cost-effective manner. The Corporation provides ferry services on two routes. The first is a year-round, 96 nautical mile daily ferry service between Port aux Basques, Newfoundland and Labrador and North Sydney, Nova Scotia. The second, offered from mid-June until late September, is a 280 nautical mile tri-weekly ferry service between Argentia, Newfoundland and Labrador and North Sydney, Nova Scotia. Marine Atlantic is a Federal Crown Corporation that reports to Parliament through the Minister of Transport. On their behalf, we are seeking an Inventory Analyst / Data Specialist to join the team in North Sydney, Nova Scotia.

As the Inventory Analyst / Data Specialist, you will cultivate the development of Inventory tools, practices and policies to analyze and report on Marine Atlantic inventory holdings and facilitate the management of inventory by recommending planning system adjustments needed to assure appropriate levels of inventory throughout the Global Organization. You will ensure Inventory Master Data is accurate and supports all requirements of a demand-based ERP system. This also encompasses an ongoing commitment for the continual evolution of the tools, practices and policies so that the processes and operations reflect industry best practices. You will also focus on the demand planning model in addition to other inputs such as lead times, order quantities, target fill rates, which will then be used to determine target inventory levels and develop a purchasing forecast for materials in support of operations.

As the ideal candidate, you have at least 5 years of demonstrated experience in a Supply Chain, Demand Planning or Inventory related role. You have provided high-level policy and operational support, analysis and advice. Certification or designation in a materials management or supply chain area of practice and knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning Systems, preferably SAP, would be considered an asset. You have exceptional communication skills and enjoy collaborating and building relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. Your strategic thinking and problem-solving skills will help you to succeed in this dynamic role.
