Our client, a provider of large scale industrial construction, is seeking a General Manager for their Hamilton operations. This position is the most senior local role and will be looked to for people leadership and development, operations and business strategy. This is a phenomenal opportunity to take an existing business with strongly aligned processes, support, and market opportunities, to the next level.    

The successful candidate will be an effective collaborator with a team-oriented approach to project management, operations and client development. The team would welcome a Senior Project Leader who is ready to step into operations management and be open to growing and contributing to an already successful business.

Responsibilities will include:  

 

  • Manage, coach, and support the operations functions within the company, providing leadership and direction to ensure proposal milestones and project timelines are met.
  • Research and implement a focused plan to develop the strategic targets and opportunities, along with attaining achievable growth objectives.  
  • Build key relationships with target clients, identifying and mapping business opportunities and successfully converting them to customers.
  • Actively participate in the marketing and proposal processes for bids as well as managing the preparation, evaluation and review of tenders and awards.  
  • Assist in managing budgets and maintaining project controls.  
  • Developing team members, exemplifying strong project management skills and best practices as it relates to scheduling, risk management, controls and communication as well as general business acumen.
  • Monitor and maintain company processes including training, employee development, health and safety and other company regulated policies and procedures.
  • Collaborating with safety, quality, finance and support services to execute a safe and operationally sound business.
  • Ensuring compliance with all internal reporting and safety standards.
  • Provide constructive feedback to team members regarding safety, performance and quality.
  • Other duties as required.

The successful candidate will also have the following experience and skills:  

 

  • Ten or more years in industrial project management.
  • Experience developing team members and supporting their professional development,
  • Safety focused, leading the implementation of project specific health, safety, and environment plans.
  • Outstanding professional reputation for being a strong collaborator with the proven ability to execute on carefully crafted strategic plans for business or project success.  
  • Ability to digest and analyze complex documents and make thoughtful business informed decisions.  
  • Strong ability to build and maintain complex relationships.
  • Ability to develop business and maintain meaningful client relationships over time.
  • Competency in budgets, estimating, cost control, and analysis/reporting.
  • Ability to persuade, inform and educate working with complex mechanical engineering concepts.
